Duo held with over 3kg undeclared gold from TIA

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two persons in possession of over 3 kg undeclared gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The detainees have been identified as Bodh Raj Bhandari (30) of Bardagoria, Kailali district and Murari Raj Adhikari (47) of Janakpur of Dhanusha district.

Police said that they recovered 515 grams of gold ornaments from the possession of Bhandari and 517 grams of 24 carat gold jewellery, 1, 552 grams of 22 carat gold jewellery and 696 grams of 14 carat jewellery from Adhikari’s possession.

The market price of the confiscated gold is around Rs 20. 24 million.

Police said that the duo, who were preparing to fly to Biratnagar on a Shree Airlines flight, were apprehended during the security check on Monday morning.

The duo along with the confiscated gold has been handed over to the Department of Revenue Investigation in Pulchok, Lalitpur for investigation.
