Deuba govt forms commission to resolve problems of landless people
KATHMANDU: The government led by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur has formed a new Landless Squatters and Problem Resolution Commission to resolve the problems of landless people by dissolving the Land Related Resolution Commission formed by erstwhile KP Sharma Oli-led government.
Keshav Niraula, former president of Nepal Teachers’ Union, affiliated to the Nepali Congress has been appointed as the Chairman of the commission formed in the name of National Land Commission.
A Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to appoint Niraula of Morang as the Chairman of the Commission.
Oli-led government had formed the Land Related Resolution Commission in 2020 under the headship of UML leader Devi Gyawali to resolve the problems of landless problems.
The Deuba government, however, dissolved the commission.
The Deuba government dissolved the commission at a time when the commission was working by forming committees in all the 77 districts.
The UML also accused the government of doing injustice to the landless people by dissolving the commission.
The issue is under consideration at the Supreme Court.
