KATHMANDU: Hindu women are celebrating Rishi Panchami festival across the country on Saturday as per rituals.

The festival, the concluding of the Teej festival, is observed on the fifth day of the bright half moon of the month of Bhadra.

On the occasion, Hindu women worship the Saptarishi (the Seven Saints) — Kashyapa, Atri, Bharadwaja, Vishwamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni, and Vashishta.

Women visit nearby rivers and ponds in the early morning and take a holy bath before carrying out the worship.

They clean their body with 365 stems of Apamarga, herbal plants, take bath with cow dung and soil collected from sacred places and ash.
