3 including 2 of single family killed in Darchula flood and landslide

KALALI: Three people, including two members of a single family, lost their lives in monsoon-induced disasters in Duhu Rural Municipality of Darchula district on Sunday.

Nar Singh Mahara and his wife Kausidevi Mahara of Baspali, Duhu Rural Municipality died when the flooded Nijang River swept them away.

Similarly, Manuwa Dadal died after a landslide buried his house in Duhu Rural Municipality-5. According to the District Police Office, Darchula, Dadal’s wise Ujjwali and his neighbour Janakram Parki were injured in the incident.

Chief District Office Siddharaj Joshi said that vehicular movement along the Darchula -Tinkar road section has been obstructed after the flood swept away a bridge over Nijang River.

Police said that the details of the damage are yet to come.

The landslides and floods have damaged three houses in Duhu Rural Municipality whereas around a dozen houses have sustained partial damage, locals said.

Meanwhile, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Purna Joshi of Sudurpaschim Province has urged the local administration to carry out rescue operations of the people affected by landslides and floods.
