EC sets Sept 7 deadline for province, local representatives to desert UML, JSP-N
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission on Sunday set a deadline of September 7 to those province and local level representatives who want to join newly formed parties.
A meeting of the Election Commission held this afternoon decided to set a deadline of September 7 for the representatives who want to abandon CPN-UML and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N) as per the second ordinance related to the political parties.
Now, the province lawmakers and local representatives of the UML and JSP-N will be able to choose CPN (Unified Socialist) and Democratic Socialist Party -Nepal and for that the UML and JSP-N cannot take action against them.
It has been mentioned that if the elected members of the Provincial Assembly and local level members from UML and JSP-N want to join the newly formed parties, the Provincial Assembly members should inform the concerned Provincial Election Office and the local level members should inform the concerned District Election Office within the given time frame.
The commission had provided the registration certificates to the Unified Socialist and Democratic Socialist Party Nepal on August 25, recognizing them as new parties.
