Southern region of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi inundated following incessant rainfall
RUPANDEHI: Almost all the places of southern region of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi districts have been inundated due to incessant rainfall since Wednesday.
Many places of Butwal, Tilottama, Sainamina and Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district have been inundated. The entire village in the southern part of the district including Bhairahawa has been inundated.
The Parasi Bazaar of Nawalparasi has been completely submerged. The rainwater has gushed into almost all the houses of the market area, Keshav Parajuli, a local journalist, said.
Vehicular movement along the East-West Highway has been obstructed after a bridge collapsed at Godaha in Devdaha of Rupandehi district due to floods triggered by torrential rainfall.
Similarly, the floods also swept away a diversion at Gaindakot in Nawalparasi, disrupting the vehicular movement.
Three diversions along the Bardaghat-Butwal road section have also been washed away, Chief District Officer of Rupandehi Asman Tamang said.
No casualties have been reported yet, police said. They said that it was difficult to collect the exact data of the damage as all the places have been inundated due to incessant rainfall.
Vehicular movement along the Butwal-Tansen road section and Butwal-Palpa-Pokhara road section of Siddhartha Highway have also been obstructed due to landslides near Gittikhola and Ramdi Bridge respectively.
The power supply in the area around Butwal has been disrupted since yesterday after the flood water gushed into the human settlement.
