SC issues interim order against dissolution of Land Commission
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a temporary interim order directing the government not to implement its previous decision to dissolve the Land-related Problem Solving Commission.
Hearing on the writ petition filed by chairman of the dissolved Land Commission Devi Gyawali, a single bench of Justice Ishwor Khatiwada issued the order on Monday.
The bench has also ordered both petitioners and defendants to present before the court on August 17 to present their arguments whether an interim order should be issued in the case or not.
The new government led by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba dissolve the commission formed by the KP Sharma Oli-led government on March 22, 2020.
The Oli-led government had formed the commission with an objective to provide land to the landless people.
