Kathmandu DAO urges people not to hold rallies and demonstrations

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu has urged the people not to organise gatherings, rallies and demonstrations, saying that a third wave of pandemic could hit the country anytime soon.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the DAO said that anyone found violating the directive would be punished as per the Local Administration Act 2028 and Infectious Disease Control Act 2020.

Stating that the number of cases has been increasing in the district and health facilities have been flooded with Covid-19 patients, the district administration urged the people to follow health safety protocols and maintain physical distance.

The DAO said that it would take action against people who do not wear masks in public from today itself.

The prohibitory order in place, imposed to stem the surge of Covid-19, is expiring on Wednesday midnight.

Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur are planning to extend the prohibitory orders with more restrictions.
