Lockdown declared in Banke

RUPANDEHI: A one-week lockdown has been announced in the Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan area after coronavirus infections started increasing.

Despite the recommendation of the District Covid Crisis Management Committee to lock down Banke district, the District Administration Office has announced a one-week lockdown in Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan area only.

According to the order issued by Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal, non-essential services have been suspended from 12 noon today to 12 noon on 27th April. 

In the sub-metropolitan area alone, there are more than 375 active infections, the COVID wards of hospitals are full, and new additions have not been stopped, the order said. 

It has been said that action will be taken against those who are banned and prohibited from walking except for urgent work as per the Infectious Diseases Act 2020 and Local Administration Act 2028.
