Board advertising illegal betting company removed from Tribhuvan Cricket Ground

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) has removed all the hoarding boards of Dafabet, an illegal betting company, from the Tribhuvan Cricket Ground. Dafabet is an online casino/betting company.

After news was published in Nepal Press with the information that betting is illegal in Nepal, the local administration had instructed the organizers to remove the board from the ground on Sunday.

Even though the meeting of the organizing committee decided to remove the board of Dafabet this evening, it was not possible yesterday due to strong winds, but all the boards could be removed before today’s game, said Venue Manager Prabal Gautam.

The company, which was founded in 2004 in Makati, Philippines, advertised on Saturday at the game. The Tri-Nations Twenty20 series involving national teams of the Netherlands and Malaysia started from Saturday. Dafabet had put up a board on the field as a sponsor of this competition.

However, within hours of the news on Nepal Press being circulated, CAN removed all the hoarding boards of DafaBet from the Tribhuvan Cricket Ground.
