Writ filed at SC against dissolution of Land Commission
KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of Land Related Problem-Solving Commission.
The hearing on the writ filed by advocate Prabesh KC has been scheduled for August 9.
The writ claimed that the government’s decision to dissolve the commission was against the constitution and law and against the fundamental rights of Dalit to access land.
The writ further stated that the dissolution of the commission was against the constitution as it was formed to ensure Dalits’ right to housing.
The government can remove the office bearers but cannot dissolve the commission, the writ said.
The Land Related Problem-Solving Commission was formed by the KP Sharma Oli government on 22 March 2020. The new government led by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba dissolved the commission August 3.
