Lamichhane misses ‘The Hundred’ T20 league due to visa issue
KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinning sensation Sandeep Lamichhane, who had gone to England to play T20 cricket league, has returned home without playing a single game. The England Cricket Board directed Lamichhane to return home stating that his visa was invalid.
Lamichhane, who was bought by Oval Invincibles for 60,000 pound, had left Kathmandu for England on July 1 to play T20 cricket league ‘The Hundred’.
He stayed in quarantine for nine days in a hotel as per the rules of the government of England. The problem occured just two days before the completion of quarantine.
“The England Cricket Board told me that my visa was not valid and I have to leave the country immediately,” Lamichhane said, adding,” When i tried to ask about the problem none of the England Cricket Board officials gave me clear answer.”
“I am extremely gutted for missing out on The Hundred. I was so looking forward to play for my team Oval Invincibles and followed all the instructions given to me by the ECB officials,”Lamichhane wrote on his Facebook Page.
Earlier, Lamichhane had missed the opportunity to play The Vitality Blast in England due to the delay in visa issuance.
