Interim order by Supreme Court to appoint Deuba as Prime Minister within 48 hours

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ruled on the issue of dissolution of the parliament and issued an order to appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister. 

The Constitutional bench of the Supreme Court today ruled on the case filed by 146 lawmakers and reversed the dissolution of the parliament and ordered for the appointment of Deuba as Prime Minister. 

Reading out the brief order, Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana said that the dissolution of the House of Representatives was not in accordance with the provisions of Article 76 (5) and 7 of the Constitution. 

The President’s decision that the claims made by 146 lawmakers including Sher Bahadur Deuba could not be met was not found to be constitutional. The order has reversed all orders such as the decision made by the President and the dissolution of the parliament.
