Military aircraft crash in Philippines kills at least 17

MANILA: An aircraft carrying 85 Philippine Air Force soldiers has crashed. According to the New York Times, at least 17 people were killed in the crash. 

At least 17 people were killed in an accident in the southern Philippine island of Jolo on Sunday, the New York Times reported, citing officials. 

Officials have said that the death toll is expected to rise further. 

Philippine military chief Cirilito Sobejana said the plane had lost the runway during its landing and had crashed. He said that 40 people have been rescued so far and they are doing their best for further rescue. 

Also, two months ago, an army aircraft had crashed in the Philippines.
