Prohibitory orders in Kathmandu extended with relaxed restrictions

Grocery stores to be allowed to open until 11 AM, hotels and restaurants to provide takeaway and delivery services

KATHMANDU: While the prohibitory orders issued for the control of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kathmandu Valley have been extended, restrictions on some sectors and activities have been relaxed. The orders have been extended for one more week and will remain in force till midnight on 21st June.

Grocery and bookstores can now remain open until 11 AM. 

Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur Prem Prasad Bhattarai said that the prohibitory orders would be continued as the infection rate has not dropped below 30% and that the ban on vehicular movement and traffic is still in place.

Hotels and restaurants, which were completely shut, are now allowed to provide takeaway and home delivery services. They will be able to do so from 7 AM. Electric and hardware stores will also be allowed to open after 4 PM.
