Government to facilitate export of Nepali Tea to China: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced that the government has initiated plans to facilitate the export of Nepali tea to China.

During a meeting held in Baluwatar with individuals who recently returned from participating in a ‘Training on Tea Processing Technology and Tea Industry Promotion for Nepal,’ organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and hosted by Zhangzhou College of Science and Technology in Fujian Province from December 5 to 20, PM Oli highlighted the importance of developing tea culture in Nepal, as well as boosting the production and marketing of organic tea.

Suhang Nembang, a member of the House of Representatives from Ilam 2, also attended the meeting.

Professor Sachit Anand Subba, President of the Nepal-China Tea Culture Promotion Society, presented a certificate of appreciation and a gift to Prime Minister Oli on behalf of the college. Subba also informed the Prime Minister about the preparations for an upcoming tea festival to be held in Ilam.

Meanwhile,  the Nepal-China Tea Culture Promotion Society has elected the following members to its board:

  • President: Sachit Ananda Subba
  • Vice President: Jyoti Adhikari
  • Vice President: Hem Kumari Bhujel
  • Treasurer: Urusha Chapagain
  • Secretary: Chiranjibi Dahal
  • Joint Secretary: Prakash Ejam Subba
  • Members: Uday Yangya Limbu, Dil Kumar Rai, Nikita Nepal, Karma Subba, Yogesh Khatri, Gopal Dahal, Kopila Pokharel.
