Chinese expertise and interest in Nepali tea: Sharing skills for industry and technology growth
ZHANGZHOU: A training program aimed at promoting tea technology and the tea industry began on Thursday in China. The event is organized with financial assistance from China’s Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with the Zhangzhou College of Science and Technology in Fujian Province.
The program, which will run for 20 days, has 34 participants, including tea-producing farmers, industrialists, journalists, and professionals working in tea and coffee marketing. The majority of the participants are from Ilam, Nepal.
The training will cover a variety of topics such as ancient Chinese tea culture, tea technology, industrialization, and marketing. It aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and skills among the participants.
Organizers believe that this training will help improve the quality of tea in Nepal, promote the use of modern technology, and assist in the internationalization of Nepali tea.
Ronish Shakya, a representative of the Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that the knowledge and skills gained during the program would contribute to the production of high-quality tea in Nepal and establish connections between Nepali tea producers and Chinese companies for marketing in China.
At present, Nepal’s tea industry is heavily dependent on the Indian market. As businesses look to explore new opportunities, participants hope that this initiative will support the internationalization of Nepali tea, thanks to China’s involvement.
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit renowned tea gardens and the Yunnan Tea Museum in the region.
