Yunnan Province hands over public welfare project to Lalitpur Metropolitan City

KATHMANDU: China’s Yunnan Province handed over a public welfare project to Lalitpur Metropolitan City on Friday.

Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Nepal handed over the project to Lalitpur metropolis-3 amidst a special programme organized in Lalitpur.

A Community Bathroom operated by solar energy called Unisolar Shower Station is included in this project.

The bathroom, which will have three small rooms, three each for men and women, will have bathing facilities for 80-100 people every day.

The bathroom will have the facility of 4, 000 litres of hot water. The water will be heated by solar energy.

The rooftop photovoltaic project has a capacity of 36 KW, which will generate 60, 000-kilowatt energy every year.

On the occasion, Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan thanked the Chinese side for supporting Lalitpur.

He said that this project will benefit the locals.

During the programme, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said that this project based on the Chinese development model can have great importance for the Nepali people.

The Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Nepal was established in 2015 on behalf of the Yunnan Provincial Government

Yang Chenfeng, Director of Yunnan Provincial Commercial Representative Office in Kathmandu, informed that nine livelihood projects including two friendly parks, three solar energy projects, two public shower projects and two school bag donation projects were completed in two years from 2022.

“These two projects will improve the living standards of the locals and create employment opportunities. It will also increase the quality of the city,” Yang said.

After the project handing over ceremony, ward 3 Chairman Shree Gopal Maharjan said that this project reflects Chinese development and lessons can be learned to implement similar practices in other places.
