Dhakal moves Election Commission challenging RSP’s decision

KATHMANDU: Mukul Dhakal has submitted a petition at the Election Commission, claiming his removal from the post of general secretary, spokesperson and central member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is illegal.

Information Officer of the Election Commission, Suman Adhikari said Dr Dhakal’s petition has been registered at the EC today.

Dhakal said that the party’s decision of dismissing him from the party posts is unauthorised and he has made a submission to the Commission not to endorse any of the RSP’s decisions.

He said that he has so far not also received any official letter to that connection from the party.

“The action taken against me by the party is unlawful in accordance with Article 269 (4) and the Section 18(2) of the Act Related to Political Parties, 2073. I have filed a petition urging the Commission not to endorse or update the party’s decisions in which my signature is missing citing it as illegal, if the party applies to the EC for the same,” Dr Dhakal said.

A meeting of the RSP central committee on July 9 removed Dr Dhakal from the party posts on the charge of acting against the party discipline and behaving in an indecent and non-political manner.
