Hong Kong bans flights from Nepal

KATHMANDU: Hong Kong has announced a ban on all flights from Nepal with effect from Saturday.

It is said that the new variant of coronavirus has spread widely in Nepal.

According to a statement sent by Chinese media Xinhua, flights from Kathmandu have been suspended indefinitely until further notice.

Hong Kong has also mentioned Nepal as a high-risk country. Hong Kong has previously banned flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines. The sanctions of these three countries will also remain indefinite.

Earlier, Hongkong had banned flights to Nepal for some time after 13 Nepalis who arrived in Hong Kong tested positive for the virus. In Hong Kong, there was zero local infection on Saturday and eight infections were found later in people who travelled.

The number of death in Hong Kong due to COVID infection is 210.
