ICC T20 World Cup: Nepal-Sri Lanka match called off after incessant rainfall

KATHMANDU: The match between Nepal and Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament was called off due to incessant rainfall.

The match was scheduled to start at 5:15 am Nepali time today in Florida, but the match was canceled due to continuous rain.

With the cancellation of the match, both the teams shared one point each.

Nepal has one point from two matches while Sri Lanka has one point from three matches.

Nepal now have two matches to play. Nepal will play both the games in the West Indies.

Nepal will play against South Africa on June 14 and against Bangladesh on June 16.

Nepal have no alternative to win both the matches to secure a berth in Super Eight.

The victory against both the countries is not only sufficient.

The Netherlands, who are yet to play two matches, have lost one match.

Nepal’s hope of reaching Super Eight stage will end if the Netherlands win both the matches or Nepal lose one match.

Similarly, with matches to play, Bangladesh also have to lose one match.

It is not easy for Nepal to win against South Africa and Bangladesh.
