Bimala Ghimire elected as National Assembly vice-chair

KATHMANDU: Bimala Ghimire of the CPN-UML has been elected as the National Assembly vice-chairperson.

She was elected as the upper house vice-chairperson by defeating Bishnu Devi Pudasaini of the Nepali Congress.

Ghimire garnered 39 votes while Pudasaini obtained only 16 votes.

Ghimire was supported by CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party.

The next meeting of the National Assembly will be held on Friday.
