NC serves ultimatum to form parliamentary committee to investigate Lamichhane
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has served an ultimatum until next meeting to the government to form a parliamentary committee to investigate Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane.
Speaking at a Parliament meeting on Wednesday, lawmaker Ishwori Devi Neupane objected to the statement of the Home Minister: “Let the opposition obstruct the House for four years, we will keep on running the government.”
“How will the government run? The Home Minister had said the government will run despite the obstruction of the Parliament by the opposition party, which will never happen,” Neupane said, adding, “The deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of the government made an irresponsible statement. Even during the discussion on the budget related to the people and country. Maybe he does not need the Parliament but we need it. We are ready to hold discussions on the budget. We will not obstruct the meetings. Why is the government scared of forming a probe committee,” the lawmaker said.
Even though the Prime Minister said there is no evidence to prove the wrongdoing of Lamichhane, she said that they have enough evidence.
It will be considered as the ruling party obstructing the Parliament if the government is not ready to form a committee.
