Prime Minister Dahal wins vote of confidence
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday secured a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives.
During the Parliament meeting today, he received 157 votes while 110 lawmakers voted against the motion.
A total of 268 lawmakers cast their votes. A lawmaker stayed neutral.
The prime minister required at least 138 votes to win the trust motion.
He was supported by CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Nagarik Unmukti Party.
This is the third time that Prime Minister Dahal sought a vote of confidence.
PM Dahal sought a vote of confidence after the Nepali Congress withdrew support to the government with the change in the coalition.
Prime Minister Dahal, who is also the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), formed a new coalition with the CPN-UML by ditching the Congress.
