“Diplomatic dialogue has already been started to resolve border issues”

KATHMANDU: A programme was organised in Kathmandu on the occasion of 75th Republic Day of India.

The program, which was jointly organised by Nepal India Human Development and Friendship Association, Nepal India Friendship Hospital, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8 and Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Ltd at Mitra Park on Monday, assimilated topics ranging from ancient relations to economic cooperation between the two countries.

Addressing the programme, Foreign Minister NP Saud said that Nepal’s relation with India is above diplomacy, expressing his confidence that no one can destabilise the relations between the two countries.

Saying that the diplomatic dialogue has already been started to resolve the border issues between Nepal and India, he said that there will be no problems from now onwards.

On the occasion, CPN-UML lawmaker Kiran Shah, CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Narayan Dahal, Janata Samajbadi Party lawmaker Rekha Yadav, Constituent Assembly member Ranju Thakur and former minister Tarinidatta Chataut among others said that there is no problem from the government and people’s side though some elements spread false news and information about the relationship between Nepal and India.

During the programme, Prasanna Shrivastava, first secretary at the Indian Embassy, said that Nepal-India relations have progressed in recent times, claiming that 2023 marked a significant milestone on the same.

Asserting that Nepal is a close neighbour of India, he said that India will work together with the people of the government of Nepal in every sector.

Speaking at the programme, Chairman of Nepal India Human Development and Friendship Association and Nepal India Friendship Hospital, said that Nepal has not been able to grab the opportunities it should have from the relations with India due to some personalities of Nepal.

He said that there is no alternative to cooperation with India in every sector.

Bhusal said that a three-day Nepal-India friendly free medical camp was also organised on the occasion of Republic Day.
