Congress-Maoist Centre hold discussion on sharing NA seats

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress, the largest party in the federal parliament, and the CPN (Maoist Centre) held a discussion on sharing the National Assembly seats in the ruling coalition.

Congress senior leaders had reached Baluwatar to discuss the sharing of candidacies in the coalition.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun from the Maoist Centre and President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa and leader Ramesh Lekhak from the Nepali Congress were present in the meeting.

During the meeting, the senior leaders of the two major political parties held a preliminary discussion on the vote weightage and the current situation of the country.

According to a source, preparations are being made to share the National Assembly seats on the basis of the same.

The leaders have agreed to reach a conclusion on the issues by holding discussions with other parties of the coalition.

The National Assembly is scheduled to be held on January 25.
