Mayor Shah, Deputy Mayor Dangol along with NC leaders reach Grande Hospital (With photos)

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol have reached Grande International Hospital.

They reached the Dhapasi-based hospital after Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward-16 Chairman Mukunda Rijal died of dengue on Thursday.

Mayor Shah, Deputy Mayor Dangol and Nepali Congress leaders and cadres, who had reached the hospital, were seen very emotional.

Rijal breathed his last during the course of treatment this morning.

His mortal remains will be kept at the Rastriya Sabha Griha from 11 am today for final tributes.

Then, the body will be taken to the Pashupati Aryaghat to perform last rites.

He was elected as the chairman of Kathmandu metropolis-16 by garnering 4,007 votes in the local level elections held on May 13.

He defeated Laxmi Ratna Tuladhar of the CPN-UML.

After being elected as the chairman, one of his statements about waste management had become very popular.

He had a heated argument with Mayor Balen Shah in the first meeting of the Executive Committee on various issues like waste management.

Later, Mayor Shah had reached his residence to meet him.

Also, very active in social media, Rijal had floated a proposal to cut the salaries of people’s representatives and spend the money on development works.
