Fast-charging stations come into operation in 51 places (With list)

KATHMANDU: Fast-charging stations installed by the Nepal Electricity Authority in 51 places of the country have come into operation from today.
Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire jointly inaugurated the fast-charging station installed at the Nepal Police Club in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu this afternoon.
With the investment of the Nepal Electricity Authority, concession loan of the Asian Development Bank and the technical assistance from Norway under the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Development Project installed 51 fast-charging stations in highways, bus parks and big cities of seven provinces.
Among the charging stations installed with the investment of Rs 400 million, big buses, micro buses, trucks and pickups can charge in 26 charging stations and small and big cars in 25 charging stations.
Saying that the government has been working on policy and legal arrangements for the promotion of electric vehicles, Minister Basnet during the inauguration ceremony said that the government is trying its best to attract investors to produce electric vehicles in Nepal.
Similarly, Executive Director the Nepal Electricity Authority Kul Man Ghising said that the charging stations were installed to promote the use of electric vehicles.
He said that the Authority is going to install 500 charging stations across the country.
Sujata Gupta, Head of the South Asia Energy Division of the Asian Development Bank, on the occasion stressed on the need to construct infrastructure for the promotion of the use of electric vehicles saying that the transport is an important sector to reduce carbon emissions.
After charging the vehicles, customers can pay the bill through the QR code and mobile app.
