Seven bridges to be completed in Koshi corridor   

Kathmandu, Jan 5 (RSS):
Of the nine bridges under-construction, seven are being completed by this fiscal year along the Koshi corridor.
Chief of Khandbari-Kimathanka Road Project, Gautam Kumar Shrestha said that seven bridges could be completed by this fiscal year if the construction work continued as planned with other factors remaining favourable.
A bridge near Phaksinda is almost complete and work on other bridges over small rivulets is progressing.
Similarly, contract bids for five more bridges in the corridor will be announced by this fiscal year, if the designs are approved, Chief Shrestha said.
According to Shrestha, 22 bridges are required along the Koshi corridor, the national pride project of the North-South Corridor. So far, only a single bridge has been completed and made operational.
So far, 148 km track of the Koshi corridor has been opened for use out of its total length of 162 km, while Nepali Army is completing the remaining 14 km.
Likewise, blacktopping of the road along the corridor is also ongoing. The Ministry of Finance has approved Rs 2.6 billion for the pitching and process for contract bidding is in motion.
