UML to withdraw support to Chief Minister Shahi

SURKHET: A meeting of the CPN-UML Karnali Provincial Assembly Parliamentary Party has decided to withdraw the support given to the Maoist-led government with effect from 18th March.

UML parliamentary party leader Yamlal Kandel informed that the decision was taken at a meeting of the party held in the presence of 10 lawmakers.

“We have decided to withdraw our support to the government of Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi,” Kandel said at a news conference today.

He said that nine people who were absent from today’s meeting of the parliamentary party would be asked for a written explanation.

“We have decided to ask for a written explanation as to why they were not present,” Kandel said. Apart from that, the CPN-UML has decided to direct the three ministers participating in the government to return immediately.

The government has Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Prakash Jwala, Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Nanda Singh Budha and Social Development Minister Dal Rawal.
