Procedures being developed to regulate YouTube and Online TV
Preparations have been started to regulate the use of YouTube and bring its content into legal boundaries since inappropriateness has been on the rise. The decision was taken at the Ministry of Communications and now the Telecommunication Authority of Nepal is working to formulate standards and code of conduct.
The Ministry of Communications had decided that the Telecommunications Authority would coordinate with the Department of Information and Broadcasting to prepare procedures for the regulation of YouTube and online TV. Sangita Ojha, Information Officer at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, told Nepal Press that the Telecommunications Authority is currently drafting a code of conduct to bring YouTube and online television under its purview.
Ojha said that due to the increasing lewdness on YouTube, a code of conduct is being brought to regulate and bring it under the purview of law.
