Nepal thrash Malaysia by six wickets

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Malaysia by six wickets in the first match played under the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023 on Tuesday.

The match was played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur today.

Nepal chased the target of 236 runs set by Malaysia in 36.2 overs losing only four wickets.

Kushal Malla and Bhim Sharki’s 100-run partnership led to an effortless victory for Nepal in the match played today.

Sharki scored the highest 71 runs off 98 balls hitting five boundaries while Malla made 70 runs off 40 balls smashing five sixes and five fours.

Skipper Rohit Poudel made 42 runs off 43 balls hitting five fours for Nepal.

Opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel contributed 38 runs off 31 balls with two sixes and five fours.

Similarly, Malaysia’s captain Ahmad Faiz  scored the highest 76 runs off 95 balls with a single six and eight fours.

On the bowling side, Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami took three wickets each for Nepal.

A total of five teams, namely Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia, are listed in Group A for the tournament. The ACC premier cup tournament will last till May 1.

Nepal will play its second match with Oman on Friday.
