Basanta Kunwar is new IG of Nepal Police

KATHMANDU: The government on Friday promoted Additional Inspector General Basanta Kunwar to the post of Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police.

A Cabinet meeting held on Friday decided to appoint Kunwar as the Inspector General of Nepal Police.

Five Additional Inspector General (AIGs) along with Kunwar were in the race for the top post of Nepal Police.

Kunwar will hold the post of IG till mid-April 2025.

Incumbent Inspector General Dhiraj Pratap Singh is retiring from today completing 30 years of his service.

Born on March 28, 1970, Kunwar joined Nepal Police as an Inspector on March 19, 1995.
