Ram Chandra Paudel elected new President of Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has been elected as the third President of Nepal.

Paudel secured 33,802 votes  while his closest contender Subash Chandra Nembang garnered 15,518 votes.

A total of 313 federal and 518 provincial lawmakers cast their votes in the election held today.

Paudel was supported by as many as 10 political parties.

CPN ( Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Lokatantrik Samajbadi Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, Nepal Samajbadi Party extended their support to Paudel.
