Prachanda elected as party leader for second time

KATHMANDU: The Prachanda-Madhav Nepal-affiliated CPN  has formally divided the parliamentary parties. A meeting of the party held on Friday elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal( Prachanda) as the party leader for the second time.

A meeting of the majority of MPs chaired by senior member Jhala Nath Khanal unanimously elected Prachanda as the party leader, MP Jhapat Rawal told Nepal Press. Prachanda’s name was proposed by Madhav Nepal as the party leader while Pampha Bhusal supported it.

Prachanda had earlier been elected party leader on December 23 However, Rawal said that the party leader was re-elected for legitimacy as the Supreme Court’s decision declared all the works after December 20 did not count.

He informed that the meeting of the Prachanda-Madhav faction approved the action taken by the party leader against KP Oli and Deputy Leader Subash Nemwang and Whip Shanta Chaudhary.
