UML decides to make Ghimire as candidate for HoR Speaker

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has decided to pick Devraj Ghimire as the candidate for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

UML Vice-Chairman Subash Nembang said that Ghimire will file the nomination for the post of Speaker today.

The election for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for 11 am tomorrow. The candidates have to file candidacies from 1 pm to 4 pm today for the same.

UML Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung and Secretary Chabilal Bishwokarma were also staking claim for the Speaker’s post. But, party Chairman KP Sharma Oli has decided to make Standing Committee member Ghimire as the Speaker’s candidate.

Ghimire, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Jhapa-2, is also the in-charge of Province 1.
