9 communist parties demand cancellation of PM’s US visit

KATHMANDU: Nine communist parties have urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to cancel the US visit.

Issuing a joint statement on Wednesday, Communist Party of Nepal Revolutionary Maoist Mohan Baidya, Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Communist Party of Nepal among others demanded cancellation of the Prime Minister’s US visit, saying that he could sign the agreement against the country during the visit.

The intervention of the US has increased significantly after the endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the statement read.

The parties have also demanded not to sign any kind of agreement which is against the nation.

They have protested against the State Partnership Program (SPP) for the past few days saying that it is one of the parts of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
