Parliament meeting: UML demands resignation of Finance Minister Janardan Sharma (With video)
KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML urged Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota not to take the House proceedings ahead until the government furnished clarification on the issue that Finance Minister Janardan Sharma used outsiders to change the tax rates on the eve of budget presentation.
The House proceedings began after Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota said that his attention had been drawn on the issue raised by the UML.
Soon after the meeting of the House of Representatives started on Tuesday, UML lawmakers stood from their seats.
UML lawmaker and foreign Finance Minister Surendra Pandey said that Minister Sharma changed tax rates and reduced the facilities of steel industries to make certain businessmen happy.
Saying that many questions have been raised against the Finance Minister, the UML leader said that he should step down on moral grounds.
He said that the issue should also draw the attention of the Prime Minister. Pandey also demanded fair investigation into the matter.
