EC seeks clarification from UML Deputy Gen Secy Gurung for violating election code

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has directed CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung to furnish clarification within 24 hours for canvassing votes for his party candidates by violating the election code of conduct in the silence period.

Gurung took to the social media urging people to vote for his party candidates in the local level elections slated for May 13.

According to Article 16 (d) of the election code of conduct, 2078, election campaigning is prohibited in all forms in the silence period that began on Tuesday midnight will remain until voting is held on Thursday.
