Press freedom is the pillar of democracy: Speaker Sapkota

KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR ) Agni Prasad Sapkota said that the freedom of the press is the pillar of democracy.

Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day today, Speaker Sapkota argued that the press had played a significant role to prosper democratic values.

“I appreciate the role of the free press. I hope Nepali media will continuously work for the exercise of rights enshrined by the constitution,” Speaker Sapkota said, adding that he would stand firm for free press and speech on behalf of the leadership of the federal parliament. RSS
