Prez Bhandari gives permission to deploy army in civic polls

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given permission to deploy the army in the local level elections slated for May 13.

Issuing a statement, the  Office of the President said that the permission to mobilise the army was given in accordance with Article 66 (2) of the Constitution as per the recommendation made by the National Security Council on March 32 and Cabinet on April 7.

President Bhandari gave permission to mobilise the army to hold the civic polls in a free, fair and fearless environment, the statement further read.
