CPN (US) cadres stage demonstration against MCC in New Baneshwor (With photos)

KATHMANDU: Tension ran high in the New Baneshwor area after the people, who were staging a demonstration against the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), crossed the prohibited area on Sunday.

Cadres of the sister organisation of CPN (Unified Socialist) among others staged a protest chanting various slogans in the area today.

Security personnel and the protestors also clashed this afternoon after the latter tried to cross the prohibited area.

Police used water cannons and resorted to baton charge to disperse the mob.
