Ruling parties file impeachment motion against CJ Rana to weaken democracy, claims UML

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML claimed that the ruling parties registered the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana to weaken the democracy.

An emergency Central Secretariat meeting of the party held on Sunday night claimed that the impeachment motion was filed against Chief Justice Rana to push the country towards uncertainty.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, party General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said the people will oppose the impeachment motion and urged all and sundry to stand against the motion.

He said that the Parliamentary Party meeting scheduled for Monday will take important decisions on opposing the motion.

Saying that the ruling coalition has carried out activities against the democratic republic, he urged the people to protest against the impeachment motion filed against the Chief Justice.
