Minister Badu proposes Speaker Sapkota to table MCC in Parliament

KATHMANDU: The government has proposed Speaker Agni Sapkota to table the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in the Parliament.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu on behalf of the government met Speaker Sapkota on Sunday and floated the proposal.

Saying that the MCC should not be discussed outside, he urged the Speaker to have debate in the Parliament.

Speaker Sapkota, however, said that there is no conducive environment to hold discussions in the Parliament.

Though the Law Minister has proposed Speaker Sapkota to table the MCC in the Parliament, the latter said that the government should first persuade the main opposition CPN-UML to lift the obstructions in the Parliament, a source close to the Speaker said.
