Ruling coalition partners are positive towards endorsing MCC: Paudel

KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the five-party alliance and Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel said that the ruling coalition partners are positive towards the parliamentary ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), an American grant under which Nepal will receive $500 million.

Saying that there is no dispute among the ruling coalition partners, he said that the parties are trying to forge a common view on the MCC even though they have different opinions on the issue.

“The coalition government has forged a common view on various issues of national importance. MCC is one of them,” Paudel said.

Paudel said that he had already told the parties to sort out the issue at the earliest.

Saying that the CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist) should clear their position on the issue, he said that now the Parliament should find the way out.

“The parties should reject the MCC if they don’t want it. We don’t have to put the people in confusion,” he said, adding, “The parties have asked for a few days. They are also positive towards endorsing the MCC.”

Claiming that MCC is not the part of the Indo Pacific strategy, he said that the parties should join hands together while taking the foreign grant.
