Janata Samajbadi Party decides to stand in favour of MCC
KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajbadi Party has decided to stand in favour of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
A Parliamentary Party meeting of the party held on Monday decided to stand in support of the MCC at the Parliament at a time when the parties are divided over the issue.
Janata Samajbadi Party lawmaker Laxman Lal Karna said that they are not against the MCC.
“Janata Samajbadi Party is not against the MCC. We will vote in favour of MCC if it is tabled in the Parliament,” he said.
With this decision, the Janata Samajbadi Party has become the second party to support the MCC.
Earlier on Sunday, almost all the parties, who attended the all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, said that the MCC should not be endorsed in its existing form.
CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janata Party expressed their dissatisfaction after the Prime Minister said that he is going to table the MCC at the Parliament.
Meanwhile, the ruling coalition has formed a committee under the headship of Jhalanath Khanal to form a common on the MCC.
