YAN Bhaktapur district committee member Rajan Shrestha murdered
KATHMANDU: A man, who was found critically injured on the bank of Hanumante River at Balkot in Suryabinayak-2 of Bhaktapur, died during the course of treatment at the Madhyapur Thimi Hospital in Thimi on Tuesday.
Inspector and Information Officer at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur Lok Bahadur GC identified the deceased as Rajan Shrestha, district committee member of Youth Association Nepal, youth wing of the main opposition CPN-UML.
“He sustained injuries after a group of unidentified persons assaulted him at an open ground near Hanumante River while heading towards his home after parking a vehicle at Gatthaghar at around 9:30 pm. Locals informed us after they saw a group of people beating him,” he said.
GC said that they are yet find the reason behind the murder.
Police said that Shrestha sustained deep cuts in his head and mouth and suspected that they might have used a sharp weapon.
A team comprising an investigating officer under the command of DSP Narahari Regmi of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi has started the investigation.
Police said that they have taken some suspected people under control for interrogation.
