Preparations are being made to file impeachment motion against CJ: Lawmakers (With videos)

KATHMANDU: Ruling coalition lawmakers said that preparations are being made to file impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.

Speaking at a programme organised in the Capital on Friday, Nepali Congress National Assembly Parliamentary Party leader Radheshyam Adhikari and CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Ram Narayan Bidari said that the Parliament meeting to be held on December 14 will discuss the issue.

Lawmaker Adhikari claimed that there are enough basis to remove Chief Justice Rana by filing an impeachment motion.

But, the problem should be resolved in a constitutional way, he said.

Similarly, Maoist Centre lawmaker Bidari said that the Parliament was called on December 14  to file impeachment motion against Chief Justice Rana.

He further said that an 11-member Parliamentary probe committee will be formed to investigate the Chief Justice.

Saying that the parties are holding discussions to remove Rana from the post of Chief Justice, he said, “An 11-member probe committee will be formed in the Parliament. Parties are working for the same. Parties are doing their work. The work will be started after an week.”
