Government to censor films, advertisements to be screened in OTT platform

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to regulate OTT and IPTV platforms operating independently in Nepal.

Issuing a notice on Monday, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology said that it has also decided to censor electronic media and advertisements.

The government has not yet censored the domestic and international films and advertisements screening through various internet platforms.

The government has decided to censor the movies and advertisements to address the demands of the general public.

The Ministry said that the movies and advertisements will have to pass the censor board before release.

The Ministry said that anyone found violating the rule will face a fine of Rs 5,000 and their license will also be scrapped.
