President Bhandari scraps ordinance to amend Political Parties Act

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday scrapped the ordinance to amend the Political Parties Act 2078 on the recommendation of the government.

A Cabinet meeting held this afternoon decided to recommend the President to scrap the ordinance.

The ordinance was scrapped as per Clause 2 (b) of Article 124 (920) of the Constitution, office of the President said.

The government had issued the ordinance to help Madhav Kumar Nepal split the CPN-UML. Later, Nepal formed a new party CPN ( Unified Socialist) on the basis of the same ordinance.
